Version 3.0 of the Business Analysis Body of Knowledge® emphasizes the importance of value creation in the role of the Business Analyst. The BA still must gather accurate requirements from business users. To maximize the positive impact of recommended solutions, the BA must also understand the strategic context for a given project and guide solution design. Success for the BA should be measured by the value an implemented solution adds for the organization and its customers.
This two-day course creates the framework for a successful Business Analysis-IT partnership in the development of effective business requirements and PM life cycles. Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Integrate business goals into system development and PM life cycles
  • Use strategy maps to clarify the strategic context and goals of IT projects
  • Plan requirements gathering with a focus on necessary business value
  • Use systems thinking to identify critical performance gaps
  • Identify process, organization and technical barriers to project success
  • Write a business case for change
This course is part of the Business Analysis Certificate Program, offered through a unique collaboration between George Mason University and Orion Development Group.

Professionals like business analysts, who can gather, assess and validate requirements and who can communicate well with numerous stakeholders, can drive projects to successful conclusions. According to the International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA™), the business analyst works as a liaison among stakeholders to enable improvements that deliver value for the enterprise and its customers. The BA bridges the gap between business users and solution providers, translating business needs into useable requirements.

The Business Analysis Certificate Program is designed to give you a foundation in all areas covered in IIBA’s version 3.0 of the Business Analysis Body of Knowledge® (BABOK). In addition this program will help prepare you for the IIBA’s Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) certification™.

It is highly recommended that Business Analysis Success (3.0): Creating the Strategic Context for Mission-Critical Projects is taken first. Remaining certificate courses may be taken in any order.

In addition to obtaining a Business Analysis Certificate of Completion, this program will help prepare you for IIBA’s Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) certification exam. These courses satisfy the 21 hours of business analysis professional development required to apply for CBAP certification.
